Colored Pencil

While we will be studying the features of the human face, we will not be drawing a complete portrait. Randi Mackey will walk you through step-by-step creating facial features, eyes, nose, mouth and ears. You will learn the different pencil pressures, angles and sharpness, how to layer light over dark and how they apply to each feature. She will discuss the different techniques of creating the innocence of the young, the more mature of the middle-aged and the interesting lines of a life well-lived in the great-grands we all admire. If time allows, you will be able to practice some of the changes. Each day will progress through one feature. By the end of class, you will have experience and more expertise with each feature.

Randi’s teaching style involves step-by-step group demonstrations followed by individual help. She makes the classroom experience relaxed and fun while introducing each technique used to create the textures needed to make these features realistic.

Randi is currently studying with internationally award-winning colored pencil artists Lisa Ann Watkins and Cynthia Knox.

This class is for all levels of experience. No need to have drawing skills to enjoy and have success in this class. Come be amazed at what you can create with colored pencils. You may even decide to try a full-face portrait by the end of class.

All supplies, including reference materials, are provided.
