Scholarships are available due to the generous gifts of individuals, foundations, organizations and businesses. Scholarships can be applied to tuition and fees, room and board, tools, and books. Qualifications apply. You must submit a college application to Western Iowa Tech Community College to be eligible for scholarships.

Valedictorian Scholarships - $5,000

  • $2500 per semester, maximum four semesters
  • Eligibility: Fall semester first time new student
  • Not stackable with other scholarships
  • Provide a final official high school transcript with a noted distinguished of Valedictorian or letter from school official
  • Register for 12 or more credit hours each semester
  • Renewal for spring semester after 2.0 fall term GPA
  • Renewable for second year (2.0 cumulative GPA and complete 24 credit hours during fall/spring academic year)

President's Scholarship - $2,500

  • $2500 ($1250 per semester, maximum four semesters)
  • Not stackable with other scholarships
  • ACT composite 22, or SAT 1100 or higher, and a high school cumulative GPA of 2.5
  • Submit a 7 or 8 semester official high school transcript *
  • Register for 12 or more credit hours each semester
  • Renewal for spring semester after 2.0 fall term GPA
  • Renewable for second year  2.0 cumulative GPA and complete 24 credit hours during fall/spring academic year)

Western Iowa Tech Board Level Scholarship - $1,500

  • $1500 ($750 per semester, maximum four semesters)
  • Eligibility: Fall semester first time new student
  • Not stackable with other scholarships
  • Students will be nominated by high school counselors via electronic form available January 1st and must be completed by June 1st. Electronic forms can be requested by high school counselors from their designated school recruiter or by emailing recruitmentteam@witcc.edu.
  • Submit a 7 or 8 semester official high school transcript *
  • Register for 12 or more credit hours each semester
  • Renewal for spring semester after a 2.0 fall term GPA
  • Renewable for second year (2.0 cumulative GPA and complete 24 credit hours during fall/spring academic year)

Housing Scholarship - $1,500

  • $1000 ($500 per semester, maximum two semesters)
  • Eligibility: Fall semester first time new student living on Western Iowa Tech campus
  • Stackable (can be received with other scholarships)
  • Completed Western Iowa Tech housing application for fall term by June 1
  • Register for 12 or more credit hours for Fall term by June 1
  • Renewal for spring semester after 2.0 fall term GPA
  • Submit a 7 or 8 semester official high school transcript *

Auto Technology and Auto Body Scholarship - $1,000

  • One-time scholarship ($1,000 maximum), one semester
  • Restricted to Auto Technology and Auto Body tools and resources offered by Western Iowa Tech
  • Stackable (can be received with other scholarships)
  • Register for 12 or more credit hours for Fall term by June 1
  • Submit a 7 or 8 semester official high school transcript *

Western Iowa Tech Foundation Scholarship - $1,000

  • $500 per semester, two semesters
  • Application opens mid-December. Priority deadline is March 15

To apply:

  • Complete the Foundation Scholarship Application found in the MyWIT student portal.
  • Your log in credentials for MyWIT can be found in your college acceptance letter.
  • Go to https://my.witcc.edu and log in using your MyWIT credentials.
  • Go to Finances and select Foundation Scholarship Application.

Comet Level Scholarship - $1,000

  • $1000 ($500 per semester, maximum two semesters)
  • Each student awarded only one Comet Level Scholarship
  • Eligibility: Fall semester first time new student
  • Not stackable with other scholarships
  • Register for 12 or more credit hours each semester
  • Renewal for spring semester after 2.0 fall term GPA
  • Submit a 7 or 8 semester official high school transcript *
  • For students who successfully completed any Upward Bound, Talent Search, HSED, ELL program, or College Now course.
  • Register for 12 or more credit hours each semester.

College Now Scholarship

Student has taken six credits of college courses with Western Iowa Tech during high school and earn a cumulative college GPA of 2.0 or higher on Western Iowa Tech course.

Upward Bound/Talent Search Scholarship

Successful completion of any Upward Bound or Talent Search program. Documentation of completion must be submitted from the program director to Financial Aid.

HSED/ELL Scholarship

Successful completion of the HSED or ELL program. Documentation of completion must be submitted from the program director to Financial Aid.

Skills Day Competition Scholarship

Skills Day Competitions are held for new students each April. Students can participate and win for multiple years. Only one award of the highest scholarship earned will be awarded.

  • 1st place $1,000; 2nd place $750; 3rd place $500
  • Eligibility: Fall semester first time new students
  • Register for 12 or more credit hours for fall term by June 1
  • Submit a 7 or 8 semester official high school transcript *

Athletic and Esports Scholarships

  • Awarded by coaches
  • Amounts vary based on team needs

Iowa Last-Dollar Scholarship

  • Free tuition and fees for select programs that align with high-demand jobs. (More information on free programs available)
  • Eligibility:
    • Iowa residents who qualify
    • Iowa high school graduates enrolling in college part-time or full-time immediately following high school graduation
    • Adults ages 20 and over who enroll part-time or full-time
    • Plan to earn a Diploma (one-year degree) or Associate of Applied Science (two-year degree) aligned with a designated high-demand job
    • Have applied for all other available aid
    • Must meet certain financial criteria.
    • Must complete your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by midnight on July 1.
