Western Iowa Tech Community College welcomed 5,136 students for the fall 2026 semester as the College begins a milestone year celebrating its 60th anniversary, welcoming a new president and launching a new academic program.
Fall enrollment includes 2,487 college students and 2,649 high school students taking college courses through College Now and other concurrent enrollment opportunities. Of those attending Western Iowa Tech, 1,029 are new students for the 2026-27 academic year. Students are enrolled in 44,719 credit hours this fall.
The College continues to see strong demand across a variety of career and technical programs. Automotive Technology, Band Instrument Repair, Cyber Security & Digital Crime, Dental Assisting, Electrician, HVAC, Nursing, Physical Therapist Assistant and Surgical Technology are currently full. Popular transfer program interests include Biology, Business, Elementary Education, Psychology, Secondary Education and Social Work.
Western Iowa Tech is also excited to welcome Aviation Maintenance Technician as a new program this year. The College recently received FAA approval for the program and is preparing to welcome its first students, opening a new pathway to careers in the high-demand aviation maintenance field.
The 2026-27 academic year also marks Western Iowa Tech's 60th anniversary. Since its founding in 1966, the College has served 31,867 students, awarded 49,929 credentials and offered 184 unique educational pathways throughout its history. The anniversary year is an opportunity to celebrate the College's history while looking ahead to its future.
This fall also begins a new chapter in leadership for Western Iowa Tech. Dr. Terry Lindsay became the College's fourth president in July 2026. During his first months as president, Lindsay has focused on listening and building relationships with students, employees, community leaders and partners throughout the College's service area.
With a new academic year underway, Western Iowa Tech looks forward to celebrating 60 years of serving Siouxland while continuing to create educational opportunities that meet the needs of students, communities and the regional workforce.
