Western Iowa Tech Community College's Lifelong Learning program is celebrating 30 years of bringing people together to learn, explore new interests, and build connections throughout Siouxland.

Established in 1996, Lifelong Learning offers educational and enrichment opportunities for adults of all ages who want to keep learning, try something new, and stay connected. Over the past three decades, 8,297 people have participated in opportunities ranging from travel and technology to gardening, crafts, history, retirement planning, and practical skills for everyday life.

Programs continue to evolve with the interests and needs of the community, giving participants opportunities to explore new hobbies, keep up with a changing world, gain useful knowledge, and enjoy new experiences at every stage of life.

"For 30 years, Lifelong Learning has shown that curiosity and learning don't have an age limit," said Sue Owens, Western Iowa Tech Lifelong Learning Coordinator. "This anniversary is an opportunity to celebrate the people who have made the program what it is and welcome others to discover what Lifelong Learning has to offer."

To celebrate the milestone, Western Iowa Tech will host a Lifelong Learning 30th Anniversary Celebration Fair from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, at the Rocklin Conference Center on the Sioux City campus. The event is free and open to the public.

Guests can meet instructors, learn about upcoming classes, and enjoy live music, refreshments, and hands-on activities inspired by Lifelong Learning programs, including card games, cornhole, cribbage, and crafts. Longtime members, former participants, and those interested in discovering Lifelong Learning for the first time are encouraged to attend.

The anniversary coincides with Western Iowa Tech's 60th anniversary during the 2026-27 academic year, celebrating generations of learning and community impact.
