The General Education AA degree provides students with a learning foundation in communications, social and behavioral sciences, and the humanities. While the degree offers opportunities for personal enrichment and career enhancement, it is primarily designed to enable students to transfer to a four-year college or university for the purpose of earning a baccalaureate degree. Courses leading to the General Education degree are also designed for students interested in preprofessional studies for such fields as law, political science, education, and social science.
Students who intend to transfer credits to another college or university are responsible for identifying the specific program requirements at the transfer institution. In order to meet specific program requirements, the student should coordinate their sequence of courses with a Western Iowa Tech academic advisor and transfer staff from the destination institution. Current catalogs for most US colleges and universities are available online.
