Dr. Terry Lindsay
Bio
Dr. Terry Lindsay has 32 years of experience in higher education, including 13 years in executive leadership roles. His background encompasses both public and private institutions, as well as small and large two-year and four-year colleges, along with Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs), and Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). He served as the Vice President for Student Affairs at Albany State University in Albany, Georgia, for nearly six years.
As the first member of his immediate family to graduate from both high school and college, Dr. Lindsay understands the transformative power of education. This personal experience fuels his passion for creating supportive and nurturing environments that empower all students to reach their full potential.
Throughout his career, Dr. Lindsay has demonstrated expertise in key areas such as workforce training, community engagement, strategic planning, student success, enrollment, and academic program development. His experience also includes financial planning and management, fundraising, and grant writing.
Before his role at Albany State University, Dr. Lindsay served as Vice President for Student Affairs and Campus Life, as well as Associate Professor of Leadership at Paul Smith's College in New York. He has held administrative positions at institutions such as North Park University in Chicago, Harper College, a two-year comprehensive institution in the suburbs of Chicago, Iowa Wesleyan University, Olivet College, and the College of the Holy Cross. In addition to his administrative roles, Dr. Lindsay has taught undergraduate courses at several colleges and has delivered a graduate course in Higher Education Administration at North Park University. He has also served on dissertation committees.
Dr. Lindsay has collaborated with stakeholders to strengthen the pipeline from high school to college, engage adult learners, expand civic engagement, and foster student success.
Beyond his academic and administrative achievements, Dr. Lindsay is actively involved in community engagement. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Albany Area Chamber of Commerce and the United Way of Southwest Georgia. His commitment to education and community service was further exemplified by his election to the school board of the Community Consolidated School District #62 in Des Plaines, Illinois, in 2010, a position to which he was re-elected in 2015.
Dr. Lindsay holds a bachelor's degree in African American Studies and a master's degree in college counseling and student personnel from the State University of New York at Buffalo (SUNY Buffalo). He earned his Educational Doctorate in Educational Leadership, focusing on Higher Education Administration, from Argosy University in Schaumburg, Illinois. Additionally, he is a proud member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., reflecting his dedication to leadership and community engagement.
Dr. Lindsay is married to Khalilah Lindsay, and together they have six children.
