Western Iowa Tech Community College's Auto Technology program took its latest build, a fully restored 1972 K5 Blazer, to the Toppers Car Show in Sioux Falls, February 13-15, earning the Outstanding Entry award.
The Blazer stood out among a wide range of regional vehicles, highlighting the craftsmanship, technical skill, and attention to detail developed in WIT's auto labs. In addition to receiving a trophy, the program was awarded $250 in prize money, which will be used to support future auto projects.
The build reflects the hands-on learning experiences that prepare students for careers in the automotive industry, from restoration and refinishing to mechanical systems and final detailing. Participating in events like the Toppers Car Show provides valuable exposure and an opportunity to showcase the strength of Western Iowa Tech's career and technical programs.
