Western Iowa Tech Community College officially approved naming the new Career Academy in Denison the Rick and Marla Franck Career Academy. The WITCC Board of Directors approved the designation following the academy’s open house and ribbon-cutting.
Rick Franck served on the WITCC Board of Directors for 43 years (1981–2023), the longest tenure in the College’s history. Under his leadership, the College saw transformative growth, including the beginning of Arts and Sciences offerings, the launch of athletics and online programs, the start of College Now, the construction of new campuses, and receiving the Apple Distinguished School designation. Rick worked in partnership with all three College Presidents, guiding the institution through every stage of its development.
Marla Franck has been a steadfast partner in Rick’s decades of service. Her support allowed him to dedicate his time and energy to the College, and together they have been passionate advocates for community education and student opportunity. Naming the Career Academy after both Rick and Marla appropriately reflects their shared contributions and lasting impact.
