Dear Music Directors,
Thank you for taking part in our annual Lewis and Clark Jazz Festival at Western Iowa Tech Community College. We are looking forward to hosting the event again (haven’t hosted since COVID-19) and would like to provide you with some information to help make the festival fun smoothly. Please read carefully and disburse information to students and parents.
- The purpose of the Lewis and Clark Jazz Festival is to provide a venue for students to present their musical talent in a supportive and encouraging atmosphere. This educational opportunity will help them to develop as musicians by listening to other performing ensembles and working with expert music educators.
- The student drop off location is entrance 12 by the Dr. Robert E. Dunker Student Center.
- Busses can park in the back of lot 2B.
- There will be a fully staffed registration table at the entrance where you can sign in. You will be greeted by one of our student/employee hosts who will accompany you to the reception room (W108) where you can leave coats, instrument cases, etc.
- Ten (10) minutes prior to the warm-up time, your host will take the group to the warm-up room (D215 for vocals, B222/223 for bands). You will have twenty-five (25) minutes for warm-up.
- Five (5) minutes prior to the performance time, your host will take the group to the performance hall (Cargill Auditorium for vocals, Rocklin Conference Center for bands).
- Awards for the groups will be at the end of each class (1A, 2A, 3A, 4A) in the respective performance centers.
- If you are unable to stay for awards, you can request that they be sent to your school. You must provide us with the necessary information such as a correct mailing address.
- Audience Members, family, and friends may enter Entrance 14 (park in lot 4) for Vocal Groups and Entrance 8 (park in lot 3) for Instrumental Groups.
We hope you enjoy our festival and come back again!
