Western Iowa Tech has received your FAFSA information however Selective Service cannot verify you have registered with them. If you are over 18 years of age and MALE, you are required to be registered with Selective Service in order to receive Federal financial aid funds. You may register with Selective Service online at http://www.sss.gov/ or at any U.S. Post Office. Once you have received your Selective Service Registration Number submit a copy to the Financial Aid Office by email finaid@witcc.edu, fax 712.274.6470 or drop it off in Admissions located on campus.
If you never registered with Selective Service before turning 26 years of age, please complete the "Request for Status Information Letter" under "Men 26 and Older" at http://www.sss.gov/. Send the Financial Aid Office:
- the response you receive from the Selective Service
- a detailed letter of explanation stating why you did not register
- any supporting documentation.
NOTE: Female students are not required to register with the Selective Service. If you are receiving this message and you are female then you left question 21 blank on the FAFSA. Please go to www.fafsa.gov and update/answer this information. After you have updated your FAFSA the Department of Education will electronically send us the information and we will continue to process your financial aid eligibility.
