Western Iowa Tech is looking for an energetic, creative student to take on a work-study role as a Social Media Student Content Creator. This role is all about making fun, short-form videos that highlight what life is like at WIT, from campus events to classroom moments to everything in between.

The focus is on creating videos for social media that highlight student life, academic programs, and the college’s welcoming culture. Content might include day-in-the-life stories, interviews, walk-and-talk FAQs, program spotlights, and trend-inspired campus moments.

Creators will plan, film, and edit original content using their own tools and editing style. Finished videos are submitted to the Marketing team for use on official college accounts. Students will not be given login access but may check out a mobile device for filming, if needed.

This is a creative, flexible role designed for someone who enjoys storytelling, keeps up with trends, and is excited to show off what makes WITCC Your Place.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, film, and edit short-form videos (TikTok, Instagram Reels, etc.) for WITCC’s official social media accounts
  • Use trending sounds, hashtags, and formats to maximize engagement
  • Develop videos like day-in-the-life student stories, academic program highlights, FAQ-style walk-and-talks, interviews with students, staff, or faculty, and fun, timely campus updates
  • Stay up to date on trends and brainstorm ideas with the marketing team
  • Represent the student perspective and help showcase WITCC’s welcoming, energetic community

Job Qualifications

  • Self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Strong follow-through, able to take a concept from idea to final edit
  • Comfortable with basic video shooting and editing tools (can use any preferred apps or software)
  • Creative thinker who can draw inspiration from trends and other creators
  • Good communication and collaboration skills
  • Brings an authentic student voice and energy to the content
  • Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to meet deadlines
  • Willingness to receive and apply feedback
