Certified Athletic Trainers are multi-skilled allied healthcare workers that work in collaboration with physicians to provide initial prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of acute and chronic medical conditions. The Athletic training degree at Western Iowa Tech Community College will prepare students wanting to pursue the profession of Athletic Training through core classroom work and clinical practicum experience. Job settings for Certified Athletic Trainers include colleges, universities, hospitals clinics, secondary schools, professional sports teams, occupational, industrial, and performing arts.

Students who want to become Certified Athletic Trainers must earn a bachelor’s degree from a four-year institution which has an accredited Athletic Training Education Program.

Western Iowa Tech Community College has created partnerships with Athletic Training Education Programs at area colleges and universities to allow for the student to transfer at the conclusion of obtaining an Associate Degree. Students should coordinate his/her program of study with transfer staff from their designated transfer institution.
