The Iowa Department of Education’s annual Condition of Community Colleges was released in January, 2019 and Western Iowa Tech Community College had several notable rankings in comparison to other community colleges in the state of Iowa.
For the fifth year in a row, Western Iowa Tech Community College issued more Certificates than any other of the 15 community colleges. WITCC’S total number of awarded certificates was more than the second and third-place colleges combined, despite having an overall enrollment that is one-eighth of those two colleges. For the fourth year in a row, Western Iowa Tech awarded more Diplomas than any other community college. The college also first in granting awards in the following career clusters: Architecture/Construction, Audio/Video Technology & Communication, Health Science, and Transportation, Distribution and Logistics. Western Iowa Tech is also a state leader in student diversity, as it had the highest percentage of American Indian and Hispanic students
