Western Iowa Tech Community College (WITCC) is pleased to announce Curtis Johnson has been appointed to the Board of Directors at the Board meeting held June 19, 2017.
Johnson is replacing Michael Hunter to represent District II in the Cherokee area. Johnson brings the values, principles, and ethics that are important to Western Iowa Tech Community College.
Johnson is a native of Cherokee, Iowa, graduating from Washington High School, the University of South Dakota and the Graduate School of Banking. He became the President/CEO of Cherokee State Bank in January 2016. Curt is presently a Board Member of Cherokee Area Economic Development, Cherokee Country Club, Iowa Bankers Mortgage Corp, a member of the Iowa Bankers Association Finance Committee, and a member of the Cherokee Rotary Club. Curt has two children and two grandchildren.
The Western Iowa Tech Community College Board of Directors is comprised of nine members elected from nine districts within the college's service area. The members must be residents of the district from which elected and each Board member serves a four-year term.
Regular meetings of the Board are generally held on the second Monday of each month. Most Board meetings are held on the Sioux City campus. Public notices of the meetings are given at least twenty-four hours prior to the meeting. These meetings are open to the public, and all interested parties have the right to be present except when the Board is in closed session.
