Western Iowa Tech Community College (WITCC) will hold its annual Technical Skills Competition Day for high school students Friday, April 8, 2016 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the college's Sioux City campus.
Participants will compete in hands-on and written activities in a specific area of competency. Students can choose to compete in one of the following programs: auto body, auto technology, small engine-motorcycle, welding, carpentry, 3D design, drafting fundamentals, graphic design, web design, digital photography, independent film, vocal performance, and audio engineering.
Judging will be done by WITCC faculty, students, and area professionals with experience in these technical fields. These skills contests will be in various locations throughout the college.
Janet Gill, Dean of Outreach, said, "Western Iowa Tech is pleased to host the annual Skills Day Competition. The event is an outstanding opportunity to recognize talent among area students and to provide them an opportunity to showcase their abilities in career and technical trades.”
