Western Iowa Tech Community College (WITCC) has received a $15,000 grant from the Gilchrist Foundation of Sioux City.
The funds will be used toward the design of a fine arts gallery project on the Sioux City campus of WITCC. The space will ultimately provide opportunities to showcase individual and collaborative, project-based learning assignments by students, as well as local, regional and national talent. Exhibits on important cultural, historical and social issues will also be displayed for both the general public and students to enjoy.
"We are very excited to move forward with this project,” said Michael Rohlena, Associate Dean of Career and Technical Education at WITCC. “It will allow us to display the artistic talents of WITCC students in a space specifically designed to showcase their work. It will not only be a benefit to WITCC students, but also to faculty, alumni and other Siouxland artists as well.”
The Gilchrist Foundation is a family-based foundation with a mission to further the philanthropic interests of the Gilchrist family in the arts, wildlife, conservation, public broadcasting and disaster relief.
