Our instructors are specially trained to teach English as a Second Language, and to prepare international students for their college programs. Unlike many schools, a TOEFL score is not required for admission to Western Iowa Tech. You can take a placement test upon arrival to determine your English proficiency. Depending on your test results, you may or may not be required to take English language classes before taking regular college courses.

Western Iowa Tech's English Language program is a successful and proven system. Instruction is led by highly trained instructors that understand the needs of second language learners.
WIT provides students with a strong English language foundation. We intensely cover English language components including Reading Comprehension, Listening, Speaking and Written Communication. Because of its proven results, vocabulary study is an integral part of our program. Test-taking skills are also covered as part of American college preparedness. Courses include: American Culture, Projects and Presentations, Conversation and Communication, Intense Reading and Writing, and College Test Preparation.
Students gain tremendous confidence as they progress through our program. In addition to American college coursework preparation, our English language training is integrated with career specific coursework so that students are well prepared with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in the global marketplace.
