Western Iowa Tech worked with companies such as Wells Dairy, Inc., BoDeans Bakery, Dean Foods, Plymouth Energy, and WestRock to develop a program that meets the growing needs of industry. These certificates can help you quickly get into the workforce as a skilled Industrial Maintenance or Electrical Maintenance Technician.

This field is growing and projected need for skilled technicians in these areas 8-14% higher over the next five years with a median wage in Iowa at $19/hr or $39,600 annually.

In this course students will learn about the concepts of precision shaft alignment. Students will perform precise shaft alignments in class with 3 different methods commonly used in industry. The 3 methods used will be feeler gauge alignment, dial indicator alignment, and laser shaft alignment.

With a small amount of training one can confidently choose the fasteners best suited to an application or even upgrade to meet more rigorous equipment conditions. This course will teach students about the different types of fasteners used in industry. Students will learn how to distinguish SAE from metric bolts, fastener grade, thread pitch, finish, and bolt types.
