Industrial Shaft Alignment

This class is for anyone working with shafts and couplings. Any time you have rotating shafts connected together you run the risk of damaging vibration due to misalignment. In this course students will learn about the concepts of precision shaft alignment. Students will perform precise shaft alignments in class with 3 different methods commonly used in industry. The 3 methods used will be feeler gauge alignment, dial indicator alignment, and laser shaft alignment.

Basic Rider Course (updated)

The BRC - (Updated) course, a novice rider course, teaches the basics of motorcycle operation: straight-line riding, turning, shifting, and stopping. After the basics, more advanced skills are learned and practiced: minimum space maneuvering, maximum braking, swerving, etc. Successful completion of the course results in your being exempted from riding the licensing skill test conducted by the DOT. Also a number of insurance companies provide a premium discount for satisfactory completion. The BRC (Updated) is an 18 hour course consisting of an MSF online internet course to address basic motorcycle knowledge, six hours of classroom instruction with a RiderCoach to address rider perception and risk management, and approximately 11 hours of on-cycle , hands-on instruction. The class is conducted on weekends.

Over 200 billion nuts and bolts are sold in the US alone per year and yet very few technicians have the ability to identify the fasteners that hold their machines together. With a small amount of training one can confidently choose the fasteners best suited to an application or even upgrade to meet more rigorous equipment conditions. This course will teach students about the different types of fasteners used in industry. Students will learn how to distinguish SAE from metric bolts, fastener grade, thread pitch, finish, and bolt types. Torque strength, shear strength, and tensile strength will be explored through hands on learning labs. Students will also learn about other types of fasteners such as roll pins, hitch pins, clevis pins, cotter pins.
