How to Get Started
Admission at Western Iowa Tech is based on an open-door policy. The college accepts any high school graduate (or equivalent) who seeks general admission. Application for general admission may be completed in person or online. Contact Admissions and Advising with any questions you may have by emailing info@witcc.edu or calling 712-274-6403.
Use the following Getting Started list to work through the process of applying, registering and getting started at WITCC.
Getting Started at WITCC
- You can start by setting up a MyHub site to give you specific information for you. All the information on this list and more will be on a web page built just for you.
- If you have never taken classes at WITCC, or it's been over a year since you have taken classes, apply online. This generates the login and password for MyWIT so you can register for classes online. Be sure to pay special attention to the final screen for that information. It takes approximately one full business day to set up your account.
- Take the Computerized Placement Test (CPT) if you have not taken it yet. Go to the CPT page for more information, view program special requirements, and take practice tests or to find out how to schedule a test.
- Apply for Financial Aid. You can fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) after January 1 for classes starting in the fall. WITCC's Federal School Code is 004590. Once you are able to log into MyWIT, you can apply for WITCC scholarships; filling out one application submits your application for all scholarships for which you are eligible.
- If you are looking to stay in student housing, you will need to apply right away as housing fills up quickly. You can get information on our housing options as well as the application here.
- When registering for classes the first time at WITCC, we highly recommend you speak with an admissions advisor first. You can stop into any campus or call us at 712.274.6402 or 800.352.4649 Ext. 6402. You can plan out what you want to do with your education and the best way to get there. If you are already on track with your academic plan, you can register online at MyWIT.
- Paying for classes can always be a challege. You can use your financial aid; pay with cash, credit/debit card or check; set up a payment plan with FACTS Tution Management (found on MyWIT), or sponsored students should contact their sponsoring agency.
- You will need books for your classes. You can purchase your books online at our online bookstore and have them delivered or held for you. Or you can stop into our Sioux City campus and shop for your books in person.
If you have ANY questions or issues at all during this process, please feel free to contact us via email or by calling us at 712.274.8733 Ext. 6402 or 800.352.4649 Ext. 6402.
