Job Training Partners and Iowa Workforce Development will host a job/education/social services fair for employees affected by the John Morrell & Co. plant closure May 6 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Sioux City Convention Center.

The fair is designed to inform the former Morrell employees and others affected by the plant closure about resources that will help them find new jobs and transition into new fields of employment.

This event also provides an opportunity for local businesses to meet and recruit employees with varying work experience and educational levels who have a strong work ethic and close ties to the community. Employers will be able to meet with job seekers interested in new careers and opportunities with skills in several production facets.

There are no exhibitor fees for participation. Exhibitors are strongly encouraged to bring a bilingual representative fluent in Spanish or a professional Spanish translator.

All interested employers are encouraged to register early since space is limited. To register, contact Shawn Fick by April 28 at Shawn.Fick@iwd.iowa.gov or 1-712-274-8733/1-800-352-4649, ext: 6401.
